The Grand River, Ohio
“Between every two pines is a doorway to a new world.” – John Muir
Project Description
This Gift Tree Planting Project is in Trumbull County, Ohio within the Upper Grand River watershed.
The overall goal of the project is to restore high-quality wetland resources within the Upper Grand River watershed. The project will convert existing agricultural fields into a functioning wetland. Besides your gift tree, brush and shrubs will be planted in the area and invasive plant species will be removed, all to help with the generation of this wetland area.
Restoring new forested wetlands will help improve water quality to the numerous communities in five counties of northeast Ohio as well as provide flood protection benefits. Your gift tree species will be one of Oak, Maple, Walnut, Cherry, and Buckeye types. As they grow, besides providing the aforementioned benefits, they will help in cleaning the air, storing carbon, and increase biodiversity of wildlife habitat.
